Romi: Help connect all areas of the pool staff through team bonding.

Candidate: Romi S

Mentor: Jeffrey N

Details

I chose this goal because I remember being a first year guard and being so scared of asking questions or doing something wrong. I think it is important for us to have a way to bond throughout the entire staff in order for new employees to not have the same fears I did.

Related Tasks:

Romi: Facilitate social events for staff; school year and summer.

3v3 Basketball game.

Guard Thanksgiving OR other non-work gatherings: Preferably when all the college students are home, breaks down the barrier between leadership and general staff.

Pickle-ball tournament.

In order to create a social even connect what you do to something external (ex: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Superbowl, etc…). Identify what you want to connect it to –> something high schoolers would want to go to.

This would be an unpaid event for everyone except for the facilitators.

Halloween time could be a good time because we could make it indoors or outdoors. Thanksgiving could also be good because the college kids would be home.

Example of activities for Halloween:

  • Pumpkin carving
  • Fire pit (Jewett Pavilion)
  • Candy exchange

Example of activities for Thanksgiving:

  • Have everyone bring a treat they like (potluck)
  • Play guard games/pool trivia

Need to create an invitation: GroupMe, Email list. Need a picture, graphic, and description for the invitation. Identify: location, day, time, conflicts, resources, etc….

Prep notes for next meeting:

Possible stations (works for any location):

      • Could have multiple with different candies
  • Pumpkin carving
    • Mini pumpkins for people to carve and take home
    • If done at an indoor location, we’ll need a tarp and trash cans

Information about the Goal

Romi S arrived at their goal through a series of meetings and refinement. Learn how that process happened.

What should we improve?

The candidate chose items in the aquatics program and department to improve. Goals are broad targets that we will work towards. Every meeting and task done will be in service of that goal. Goals should be large enough to encompass many tasks. Goals may not be attainable. Goals are our guiding direction; our North Star.

Romi S's brainstormed ideas:

Help connect all areas of the pool staff through team bonding.
Improve patron safety through consistent safety breaks.
Streamline the cleaning process through organizing the cleaning checklists/shifts.
Maintain the pool’s equipment inventory by creating a checkout system.
