Brainstormed Ideas:

  • Challenge Page – An interactive online game with leaderboard system where guards complete job-related reviews and challenges; top performers each month earn recognition and rewards.
  • Custom Incentives Program – A unique reward system offering personalized perks (like custom shifts or hand-picked items) to motivate guards to take on extra summer hours.
  • Lifeguard Jersey Tradition – A special annual jersey that becomes a tradition; guards who meet hour milestones sign it each year, creating a lasting legacy piece for the team.
  • Tic-Tac-Toe Task Board – A playful in-facility competition where guards complete small tasks during shifts to place an X or O on the board, turning work into a friendly ongoing game.

Goals to implement from ideas:

  • Bingo Challenge – Build and design an online bingo card or web page, upload guard-related review/study prompts, set up a system to track completions, and create a visible leader board to update monthly. Prepare recognition or rewards for the top participant.
  • Custom Incentives – Research and source personalized physical rewards (e.g., custom water bottles, shift-choice passes, apparel) that go beyond typical giveaways like sunglasses. Order, organize, and distribute items to encourage guards to pick up school year shifts.
  • Lifeguard Jersey Tradition – Design and order a lifeguard team jersey. Create a process for qualifying guards (50+ school-year hours) to sign the jersey at the end of the year. Store and display the jersey in a visible area, repeating the tradition annually.
  • Tic-Tac-Toe Task Board – Purchase and set up a whiteboard at the SRC, design tic-tac-toe grids with shift tasks written in, and manage the game by tracking guard participation. Provide markers for guards to add their X or O as they complete tasks.

Chosen tasks to follow through with and how we can track that

  • Bingo Challenge Page
    • Integrate Into the Swimming Lessons Website
      • Add a new tab/section labeled “Guard Challenges” or “Monthly Bingo.”
      • Embed the bingo grid as an interactive feature (custom code).
      • Ensure it’s mobile-friendly since many guards will check on phones.
    • Task Verification System
      • Link each square to a form submission (e.g., short quiz, proof upload, or multiple-choice check).
      • Use completion triggers (auto-response email or badge) once a task is finished.
      • Some squares can require supervisor sign-off (e.g., “helped with setup”).
    • Tracking Progress
      • Collect responses through Google Sheets or the website’s backend.
      • Display progress via a live leaderboard showing how many squares each guard has completed.
      • Use conditional formatting (like “BINGO achieved!”) to highlight milestone completions.
    • Monthly Reset & Recognition
      • Clear or refresh the bingo card each month with new challenges.
      • At the end of the month, verify completions, tally points, and post winners on the site.
      • Give out the chosen reward (e.g., gift card, custom item) and feature the winner’s name online.

Information about the Goal

arrived at their goal through a series of meetings and refinement. Learn how that process happened.

What should we improve?

The candidate chose items in the aquatics program and department to improve. Goals are broad targets that we will work towards. Every meeting and task done will be in service of that goal. Goals should be large enough to encompass many tasks. Goals may not be attainable. Goals are our guiding direction; our North Star.
