11 first, scoop to “eat,” then return to 11.


Testable goal:

In the water, floating on belly, move arms with a two second pause through each motion.

11, Eat, 11.

This should be done repeatedly and not one time in the course of a lesson, or with the instructor.

Bonus Goals:

  • Do a streamline with no kick first, then while gliding do the 11, Eat, 11
  • Demonstrate on land first.
  • Add a breath during the “eat.”

Activities to achieve this goal:


11, Eat, 11 On deck

Stand in soldier, then 11 and move between 11 and Eat 10 times.

Go slow.


3 x SL + 2x(11, Eat, 11, Glide for 2 seconds)

No kicking, no breathing. This is the MOTION of Breaststroke arms.

Streamline underwater, do the arms at the surface.


Final Test: Streamline and with each position clearly demonstrated move from 11 to Eat and back to 11.

No kicking.
