Hope Mocogni: Meeting 1

This meeting was over Facetime because I was still at school. We narrowed down the four goals to one and decided to go with the “implementing lifeguard escapes” goal. To start, we decided that I should research the different types of saves and then write out a step-by-step instruction sheet for each escape. This is important because everyone needs to be on the same page when teaching and learning these strategies.

This meeting took place over Facetime because Hope was still away at school. We started to brainstorm a couple of potential goals.

I remembered that last summer we had briefly gone over lifeguard escapes to use when an active drowning patron is panicking/grabbing onto the approaching lifeguard. The goal that we are leaning towards is  implementing these practices more regularly into weekly trainings to ensure employee safety and in-water rescues.

  • Finish the research regarding the escapes.
  • Start the document with the step-by-step instructions.

Hope Mocogni: Meeting 4

During this meeting I checked in with Jeff about my mentorship progress. We discussed how I needed to fix my overall goal by making it broader. I adjusted it to “Improve patron safety through employee training”. Then, I went in and adjusted my meetings and tasks so that they correctly fell under the new thesis statement! I identified my two tasks as creating the lifeguard escape step-by-step document for leadership and running my station at an inservice. Both of which are completed, I am now working on documenting them.
