Candidate: Samuel Schiltz
Details
The concessions manager role is relatively new, and its tasks and responsibilities have rapidly expanded from the previous year. Partially due to increased food safety procedures because of our pizza sales and the added responsibilities of scheduling. The role has granted a lot of flexibility and freedoms in the way we each proceed with our responsibilities. This has been excellent for allowing us to experiment learn what works best. However now that we’re advancing further into the summer and have more people with overlapping responsibilities it would be ideal to have delegated responsibilities for scheduling, deadlines for schedules, and clear outlines and expectations of general procedure for the email, concessions and food safety, cashier audits, daily responsibilities and more. Furthermore, this project may serve as a helpful guide for future staff in the concessions manager position that they can look to for reference.
Related Tasks:
To ensure consistency in the concessions manager role, I will create standardized deadlines and procedure for schedule releases.
Action Items
1.Create survey for concessions managers regarding scheduling preferences and overall job difficulties, Concerns, and possible improvements
2.Review survey and create a document that will aid in enforcing deadlines for scheduling and make certain people responsible for scheduling each position
Concessions Manager Survey Results
Takeaways:
- Unanimously Agree that scheduling two weeks in advance is doable and ok with everybody
- Concessions Managers have no preference on who they schedule with the exception that nobody wants to schedule Swim Instructors
- Biggest problems regarding scheduling
- People flipping between pools on back to back shifts when the auto schedule is made
- Figuring out how to use humanity
- Aligning manager and headguard schedules with lifeguards (timing wise)
- A lot of people ask for unnecessary things that make our lives more difficult. We also need to make the rules clearer so people stop trading and releasing shifts that make our job harder.
- Unanimous agreement that Standard operating procedures or guide would be helpful for the Concessions managers
- Areas that are still confusing/unclear are bank deposits and tech problems
- Improvements that could be made
- less people working on the schedule at once
- Clear scheduling responsibilities

These schedule assignments will serve identify clear scheduling responsibilities for each Concessions Manager and hold them accountable for submitting them on time. We will divy up the schedules on Friday meeting
