Callen Jakymiw: Meeting #1 – Brainstorming Goal Ideas
I began by brainstorming tasks to create a solid foundation for my eventual goals. I did a thorough look at the concession area, cashier booth, and diving well to think of what we could improve. I found many missing components to make employees daily tasks easier such as reminders to be astute in counting the cash drawers and to wait for a manager, or a list of Ilforno hours to assist employees along with instructions for frozen pizza temperatures and timing. To achieve my goal, I plan to improve employees cleaning abilities by enhanced training (possibly creating videos) and a step-by-step cheat sheet to ensure consistency. Additionally, I would like to improve employee’s customer service skills by constant physical reminders such as visual support tools and suggested phrases to use with customers in unique situations. I plan to carry out a “concessions audit” with Jason similar to a supervised Timmy so I can understand what is expected from concession staff and feel confident in providing feedback.

The candidate chose items in the aquatics program and department to improve. Goals are broad targets that we will work towards. Every meeting and task done will be in service of that goal. Goals should be large enough to encompass many tasks. Goals may not be attainable. Goals are our guiding direction; our North Star.
