Be part of the class.

Engage swimmers with FUN.

Involve everyone.

Testable goal:

Swimmer should be able to participate and follow directions in a group setting throughout the entire lesson.

Some children will wander off on their own or will be a challenge to keep interested in activities. In order to progress, swimmers must be able to remain a part of the class and not “wander off.”

Bonus Goals:

  • Swimmers remain with group even when not physically penned in by a bench.
  • Swimmers keep in a close orbit when traveling around pool or water area.

Activities to achieve this goal:

Swimmers doing things together with the instructor.

Remind participants to stay near the instructor when doing activities.

Attend to the swimmers in your group in a positive way and do your best to encourage the wild ones from leaving the class area.

You may need to physically pick them up and keep them by your side.

Examples of group activites:

Pick up Rings

Give swimmer 6 rings and have them get them with:
– Foot
– Hand
– Shoulder underwater
– Lips in the water.
– With a foot, but both hands above water.

Must go underwater to get to the mushroom man and get a reward.
