Andrew Kluge: Creating Cleaning Checklist for Concessions Shifts @ Mitchell and Deerspring

Was the task completed: Yes

Task evaluation:

Hi Deerfield Aquatics,

For this mentorship project, I created two concessions cleaning checklists for both Mitchell and Deerspring. These will be printed out at the start of each week, and after each shift, the employees will initial to indicate all tasks are completed. This will encourage a clean and effective concessions process to make sure that each shift can end more quickly and that the concessions area stays clean throughout the day. I made some changes to the layouts of the spreadsheet so that the week started on Saturday instead of Monday and so that the words could be larger and more easy to fill in week after week.

Cleaning Log

This final checklist should be completed by the end of each shift before clocking out. Then the checklist should be checked by either the concessions manager or shift manager to ensure that all tasks were completed well. If the manager is pleased with the task completion, they will put their initials in the initials box and dismiss the concessions workers. Overall, this will make sure that the concessions booth is cleaned often and ensures a clean environment for us to work and for customers to feel safe while eating their food.

Pool Managers (8/6/2024 3:19 PM): We looked over the Information packet that Andrew put together for the cashier and concessions. It looks really accurate and thorough and covers lots of topics that concessions and cashier staff can be unsure about or don’t know. I attached a pdf of it. During this meeting we created a 12 question test based on the information in the cashier and concessions information packet.’

Information about the Goal

Andrew Kluge arrived at their goal through a series of meetings and refinement. Learn how that process happened.

What should we improve?

The candidate chose items in the aquatics program and department to improve. Goals are broad targets that we will work towards. Every meeting and task done will be in service of that goal. Goals should be large enough to encompass many tasks. Goals may not be attainable. Goals are our guiding direction; our North Star.

Andrew Kluge's brainstormed ideas:

Improve patron experience in the concessions stand
Improve staff confidence in their job of cashiering and concessions
Effectively communicating updates and relevant pool information to patrons
Consistency in cleaning while working concessions and cashiering
