    Task evaluation:

    Ashley created 4 posters for levels 1 -4 and designed them. We submitted to our marketing department and created giant A-Frame posters that we’ve been using for 2 months at swim lessons. They serve as an excellent guide for parents, swimmers, and instructors to reference the testable skills for each level and give a guidepost to where we’re going with lessons.

    We will make additional copies for the summer and place them around the pool deck. This was an excellent task and I believe has significantly contributed to her goal.

    Called Marketing department to check on the creation status of the boards. They’ll be sent to the printer on 2/27/2024 and will receive proofs once they’re ready to print.

    *Will at the DPD logo and title.

    They will help inform the parents and the instructors and the kids.

    The skills and the challenges will be easier to aim and point at the skills they need to pass to the next level.

    Encourage the instructors to have more creativity in coming up with activities and challenges to use in their lessons so they can lead up things towards the skills listed.

    Final proof of items:

    Where will we place the a-frame boards once they’re printed?

    In front of the lanes?

    Put it on the glass?

    Lean it against the glass. Put it on the top of the benches. ** Lean it on the brown benches against the far side so that everyone can see them; ins, swimmers, and parents.

    Action items:

    Attend a Saturday swim lesson or a weekday and bring the printed posters. Put them on the bench to be seen.

    Talk to the following people and ask questions about them:

    • Parents
    • Swimmers
    • Instructors

    Questions to ask:

    • Can you see them?
    • Do they make sense?
    • Are they clear?
    • Do you have any questions?

     

    Then document their answers and the effectiveness of the posters. Do we need to do updates and do we need to adjust where we put them or show parents?

  • Jeffrey Napolski (9/12/2023 4:27 PM): Objectives for next meeting: Refine language of your chosen goal. Brainstorm 2 tasks. Pick a task to begin with and start defining specifically what you’re going to do, or what you want to do.

    Jeffrey Napolski (9/12/2023 4:21 PM): Identifying the problem: there are not a lot of examples shown or demonstrations. Providing opportunities to make examples happn; provide training oprtions to have all swim instructors get in the water and do a skills practice/demonstration. Goal 4: Provide more site specific training for lifeguards: Taking LG to DHS and showing them where to go and where to supplies are. Show people where the binder is. Make a video and site specific training just for each place showing: where supplies are, what the EAP is and how to do the rotations. What the procedure is for First Aid & ice packs.

Update the language and make sure it is more concise. Goal 3:

  • Jeffrey Napolski (9/27/2023 3:55 PM): Talked about the Pie chart. Discussed how to implement it and reviewed an idea for creating four to six different A-frame poster boards covering each of the six levels, parent tot, guppies, level one through level four. Ashley wood come up with the design of each level with a pie chart or other graphic showing the testable skills in the level with a picture and or brief description of each one. We discussed using Canva or Google Slides or Microsoft publisher. She is able to choose which one she would like.

    Jeffrey Napolski (9/27/2023 3:42 PM): Option 1: Ensure that swim instructors are clear on the testable skills and level structure so that lessons are as productive as possible. OPption 2: Make sure swimmers and instructors are fluent in the testable skills and level structure. Option 3: Ensure swim instructors are clear on the testable skills and level structure in order to ensure swimmers are moving through program effectively. Refinement: Educate staff on testable skills and level structure to promote swimmer progress. Task brainstorm: Visual pie chart task. Testable skills video; a video that is a clear video on what the skills are and how to do it. Maybe with easier language. Reinstate end of lesson debrief to review swimmer progress.

    Action items:

    Begin working on what the pie chart would look like, how it would be implemented, what it will look like on the pool deck, what materials you’d need, or where to put it online? How would you integrate it with SharePoint? What about WordPress (swimlessons.pro).

    Come up with a BASIC wireframe outline of your design to use across all levels. The pieces will change, but the overal format would remain the same.

    Ashsly Lamberti arrived at their goal through a series of meetings and refinement. Learn how that process happened.


    What should we improve?

    The candidate chose items in the aquatics program and department to improve. Goals are broad targets that we will work towards. Every meeting and task done will be in service of that goal. Goals should be large enough to encompass many tasks. Goals may not be attainable. Goals are our guiding direction; our North Star.
